Lincoln on Truth, Politics and the Constitution

Studying Civil War history has always given an insight into current and future business and political events. Crisis and turmoil, rumor and innuendo, truth and fabrication, are a constant in our country’s genesis. The common thread that has always held our citizenry in good stead is our ability to normally learn from our mistakes. We are usually gracious and forgiving, almost to a fault. Occasionally we apologize when action is demanded.

Lincoln was elected twice during our country’s greatest trial and I believe he said it best.

Bummer

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.“

“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”

“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.”

Abraham Lincoln
